Matthew 25:35-40 (New International Version)
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger
and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you
came to visit me.'
37 "Then the righteous will answer him,
'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and
give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger
and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When
did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you
the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers
of mine, you did for me.'

The End of a Chapter
About twelve years ago it was love at first
sight when we entered the little town of San Francisco. God
gave us a “man of peace (Luke 10:5-7),” and we lived
with his family while learning the Guarani language. Over the
slow passage of time, we began a few Bible studies. Years passed,
and there was a scattering of believers. Eventually, some leaders
began to emerge, and they led the Bible studies with us. More
recently, we have had a weekly meeting with the leaders to prepare
together what they will teach. Those leaders then lead the various
Bible studies without our being there. Last week, we told the
leaders that the next step was for one of them to lead the leaders'
meetings. They talked about it, and Pedro, our man of peace,
was chosen for a six month term. It has taken 12 years to work
ourselves out of this job. Now it is time for us to move on,
but we are by no means finished! This is merely the end of a
chapter. While it will be sad and hard to leave our spiritual
children and grandchildren, we know that in order to continue
maturing they must depend on the Holy Spirit and not us. We
will be in the States for a year beginning in mid-June. After
that, we hope to start chapter two in a town not too far from
San Francisco. Seeing the marvelous ways that God has changed
people's lives in San Francisco makes us anxious to see that
happen again in another town. We will still visit the believers
when we travel through San Francisco, and we hope to give them
opportunities to connect with people in our new town to tell
from first hand experience how God can change lives. Our love
for San Francisco has grown over time, and we will definitely
leave part of our hearts in San Francisco, but we are also excited
to see what God will do in this intermission in the States and
in Chapter Two when we return to Paraguay.
