The
Youth Ministry of Kingsport Community Church is for 6th grade
through Seniors in High School. We focus on providing a loving
place for all youth where they can explore and affirm who
they are as children of God in a safe and secure Christian
environment. Through our worship, mission opportunities, retreats,
fun nights and Bible studies, we seek to grow in love toward
God and toward each other by cultivating a community of faith
and friendship.

Youth Group News & Notes
Hello Everyone,
The youth team met today to plan for the first quarter of 2012. The big event
for this quarter is State Youth Convention, March 23-25, 2012.
Convention will be held in Gatlinburg at Park Vista Hotel once again this year.
The cost for the weekend is $150, which includes, room, food and convention.
Convention T-shirts can be pre-order on the registration forms, but they are
an extra cost. When we receive our packet, more information will be sent out
about the T-shirts and registration forms.
We are asking youth who are planning to attend State Convention to pay their
deposit of $30 by Wednesday, January 26. This will help us know how much money
we will need to raise to help youth pay for their trip. All students have the
opportunity to raise their funds for this trip minus the deposit, if they will
come out and help work the fundraiser events.
Speaking of fund raisers we have one coming up in two weeks!
We will be doing a soup and potato lunch on January 22 after morning service.
We are asking families to donate a soup and dessert for the meal. As in the
past students can earn hours by bringing in soup or a dessert. One hour of work
credit will be given for each soup and/or dessert a student donates, up to two
hours of credit can be earned per student. Brian will have sign up sheets available
tonight for students to let us know what they will be bringing.
We will be doing prep work for the luncheon on January 21 from 11 am -12:30
pm. Students will earn hours by helping during this time.
Other dates to remember:
February 11-12: Soup and Salad Luncheon
March 10-11: Soup & Potato Lunch
March 23-25: State Youth Convention
June 18-23: Camp Overton (High School Only)
Another item we would like to do with the youth are random acts of kindness
for our church family and neighbors. If you are aware of anyone who may need
a little help around their home, such as leaves raked, weeded flower beds, sidewalks
cleaned off, or a short visit on a Sunday night or Wednesday evening, etc. Please
let us know so we can do a drive-by (code name for random act of kindness) and
make someone's day brighter. Please let Brian, Eddie, Chris, Carie, Rebekah,
Jane or me know.
Have a great week!
Debbie

What is it? Is it Church for people under 5 feet 7 inches or
for people born in the years with 5 and 7 in it? Is it a group just for people
born on May 7? Who is this Church for?
Five Seven CHurCH is for youth who are in the fifth, sixth and seventh grades
in our congregation.
These youth will be dismissed during church right after pastoral prayer and
gather in the mezzanine with the youth team. The service will include an activity,
snack, if needed, and Bible study.
Youth participating in this church may still attend children’s activities
each month, and children’s choir on Sunday nights. The sixth and seventh
graders may participate in the youth events as well.
Our goal for this group is to make the transition from children’s ministry
to youth group a little less stressful. Youth will be able to get to know the
Youth Pastor and youth team members in a small group setting.
